AAUW has a long and distinguished history of advancing educational and professional opportunities for women in the United States and around the globe. One of the world’s largest sources of funding for graduate women. Fellowship and grant recipients perform research in a wide range of disciplines and work to improve their schools and communities. Their intellect, dedication, imagination, and effort promise to forge new paths in scholarship, improve the quality of life for all, and tackle the educational and social barriers facing women in the United States and around the globe.
There are many funds to which one can donate. One can designate one’s support to the programs about which one cares the most by using a specific FUND number. If a specific program name or fund number is indicated, that gift will be restricted to only that program. If one wishes to give a memorial or honor someone, one can make a tax-deductible contribution to an AAUW Fund, and here again specify the Fund that aligns with one’s donation goal.
In addition to the many “restricted” AAUW Funds, there is an “unrestricted” AAUW Fund (#9110), which directs funds to where the need is greatest. Unrestricted gifts to this fund support existing programs and give AAUW the dexterity to act quickly and responsibly in the wake of any new challenges facing women and girls.
In the past, AAUW’s national membership dues covered the costs of managing and running mission-based programs. AAUW national membership dues cover just 30 percent of the funds needed to support the mission-based programs and advocacy efforts that are fundamental to AAUW’s ongoing effectiveness. Although members may still designate contributions to restricted funds rather than the general fund, we encourage members to consider the general fund to help support new initiatives that align with our mission.
Donations to AAUW are accepted online or by mail. To designate a gift to a specific program or fund, please write the name or fund number of that program in the memo line of the check. If one has any questions, please contact AAUW Funds at 202-728-3307 or development@aauw.org.
